Check out a detailed article about Morey here: UNDEFINED
Morey Weinstein is originally from Long Island, New York. He attended the Philadelphia College of Art and the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. His first job was constructing models to show-case designs for clients for a trade-show design firm. While working there, he did freelance airbrush illustration for various advertising agencies in Manhattan. His boss credited his fatigue to late-night dedication to his painting, and he gently pushed Morey into illustration work full-time. He promised he would gladly give him the job back if his endeavor didn't work out, but instead it opened a journey that still continues!
Morey was a great success at product rendering and artwork for point of purchase displays. His work generated so much interest that he was offered a full-time illustrator position in Greensboro, North Carolina. This led to more free-lance work illustrating tobacco industry artwork with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Life led Morey to Florida, where he painted custom designs on motorcycles. Competition in this arena was fierce, and Morey took his well-earned money to purchase art supplies to paint on canvas. These paintings showcase the talent Morey developed over his vast experience. Airbrush painting has become his love-to take things we see everyday and portray them in a way that deserves more attention. These paintings have captured attention nationwide-and have an audience from New York to California.
Morey currently lives in Columbia, South Carolina. He spends hours each day painting in his home-studio, and he also cares for his elderly mother. "I could live anywhere as long as I can set up my studio", he says. "It's never really been work; it's my passion!"
Morey's biggest inspiration from the art world comes from renowned artist Richard Estes. "His work totally blew my mind! "Morey says of his first viewing. "Ultra Realism is something I've always loved in the art community!"
Morey's varied experiences culminate in his artwork. He showcases enormous talent in sharing the beauty that surrounds us and we too often take for granted. "Ordinary, everyday things have a unique and subtle beauty. I like to portray them in a new and different way." He shares his vision through extraordinary detail with his airbrushing talent. We owe it to ourselves to look through Morey's eyes, and to give what we see as "normal" a brand new view!
